Michael and his Idol pals, put on a rockin’ show that was free for everyone on Friday night at the train station! The audience loved it and you can clearly tell they all had a great time too. Many thanks to Funjet Vacations for sponsoring this fabulous show!

Michael will be braving the cold in northern Alberta, Canada to be one of the special performers along with The Canadian Tenors at Edmonton’s Singing Christmas Tree show.. a wonderful tradition there for 41 years!

On Friday morning, MJ will be singing on Edmonton’s City TV promoting the show…I will update the blog when I get the time of his appearance.

…I hope MJ brings a “Snuggy” and anything warm as the temperature high for Friday will be -19C (-2F) ..probably a bit hard to take after the idyllic weather in Perth.

Despite the cold, it sounds like a spectacular show!

Foster’s song struck chord with Johns
By Glen Schaefer, The Province October 27, 2010 Singer Michael Johns and producer David Foster happened to be working in Foster’s Santa Monica recording studio when Foster’s director friend, Michael French, came in to tell them he had finished his feature film on Vancouver athlete and activist Rick Hansen.

The chance encounter resulted in the acoustic version of the Foster-penned hit “Man in Motion” that appears on the movie’s soundtrack.

“It was one of those happy coincidences,” says Johns, the Australian-born singer who started working with Foster after appearing on TV’s American Idol two years ago. “David and I were actually working on another project and the director came in.”

Foster is an executive producer of French’s movie.

“We talked about what we would be able to do potentially,” says Johns, who moved to the U.S. in 1998.

“I picked up an acoustic guitar, started playing the acoustic version and David said, ‘I love it.’ David got on the keys and that’s the version that’s in the movie.”

Foster wrote the song as a tribute to Hansen during Hansen’s round-the-world wheelchair trek. It was originally performed by John Parr and was used in the sound track to the movie St. Elmo’s Fire.

Johns will be in Vancouver Thursday to perform the song at a private function for the movie.
