Michael once again gave his time and amazing talent along with other artists to support the very worthy Ray Thomas Foundation, a children’s charity event in Cabo. The gala was held beachside at the beautiful Hotel Casa Dorada.

The funds raised in this year’s event are earmarked for the GART’s first fully funded kitchen in the Los Cabos community. This brand new kitchen, which accompanies the sports and activities programs in Leonardo Gastelum’s Elementary School, is located on the outskirts of Cabo San Lucas. With the success of the Champagne Jam as an annual event, the foundation plans to reach out to many more schools and students in need of their programs in the near future.

Oct 15 – American Idol Stars Perform Free Show!

Where: Reveille Peak Ranch

When: Saturday, Oct 15, 7:30 pm

What: Michael Johns and Syesha Mercado, two stars from American Idol season seven, will perform a free concert for 250 people!

We’re thrilled that Michael and Syesha are including the RPR concert as part of their weekend tour of Central Texas in support of Border to Border for Kids programs that help children in need on both sides of the US-Mexico border. Local singer-songwriter John Arthur Martinez will join the Idols on stage and serve as emcee. The event is produced by ProLink Live.

Reserve your spot by emailing info@rprtexas.com.There are a limited number of reserved seats available for a $25 donation that will be contributed to the Andy Roddick Foundation’s Granite Shoals Youth Tennis Program and the Border to Border for Kids programs.

Michael and Syesha will also help kickoff RPR’s announcement of the Upper Highland Lakes Music and Sports Fest to be held in May 2012. Stay tuned for details!

Whenever Michael sings the National Anthem, he absolutely kills it!!! He has the best rendition out there and he is asked so often to perform it at all sorts of large sporting events…the Dodgers have had him back to sing it several times!!
He sang both “The Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” at the September 21st game against the Giants.
Take a listen to the National Anthem and I’m sure you will agree :)

Both Maja and Pat live across the world from most of us and have never met or seen MJ perform live..our hope is that someday it can happen for them! :)

Friday evening was such a special evening at the Viper Room…Michael just slayed it!! His setlist was nothing short of brilliant, singing fan favourites and two outstanding news songs…each song he performed was amazing..from the most tender to the most rockin’ ever!

I have to say that the band was fabulous and we’d love to see more of this collaboration :)
Kevin Haaland on lead guitar, Dan on bass guitar, George Holdcroft on keyboard and sax, and Philippe on drums!! Anyone would think they had played together for years..it was awesome! (especially on Ramble Tamble!!)

The room was packed and there was all sorts of support for Michael from fans, friends and other celebrities. I want to add that Stacey looked absolutely beautiful and it was great to see her again!

Michael was in great demand by everyone wanting to congratulate him after the show.. he was just wonderful and thanked everyone for coming out to support him!!
It was such a fabulous night and everyone wants to thank-YOU Michael!!! You absolutely slayed it and I think everyone would agree it is up there with their favourite shows! :) Both your new songs are so beautiful and we just can’t wait for your single and album release!

Jo, our great friend and moderator from Oz wrote these words that I would like to share with you all as it expresses the sentiment of all of us here.

Just wanted to let all of our MJO family know that we’re thinking of them today

This day didn’t just touch those who were there…or those who were close to the tragedies, it affected everyone all around the world.

But to those especially who lost family, friends or were directly involved in the aftermath – please know that we mourn with you.

Our thoughts and heartfelt support goes out to you all with the hope that an occurrence such as this life changing event never happens again and our thanks go out to the mainly unsung heroes who have helped and continue to help us put the world back together.

What He Sounds Like:  Vintage jazzy pop/R&B with a velvety soulful voice that leaks tender strength out of every single held note.  Sweet enough to make girls sigh and strong enough to make men want to as well.

Why You’ll Love Him:  Alright now, hold your darn horses and pull back your pitchforks here, I know what you’re thinking, “That dude was on American Idol!  That’s not underrated, under appreciated, underground, under the radar music!  You’ve sold out!  Damn you to hell!!!” and we would not blame you for your anger.  But before you threaten to hit the dreaded “unfollow” button think about this for a minute, even if you’re familiar with Michael Johns’ Idol-related antics have you heard any of his music since he had to suffer the displeasure of being in the same room with Ryan Seacrest? We didn’t think so.  

It’s a epic-fail-like shame that more people haven’t heard of this man’s work because you’ll be hard pressed to find an artist with more emotional soul in the current music scene outside of an Adele album.  In fact I’ll go as far as to say that Michael Johns is the male counterpart to Adele herself, his music is riddled with pain and tortured heartquaking.  With a style reminiscent of Lionel Richie circa 1979 and a chill-causing strain in his upper register that will make you misty eyed if you can relate to the harpsichord melancholy of his lyrcism.  

In a world where you have to feature Akon on your track in order to have a number 1 single Michael Johns’ hearkens back to the days when musicians made music to covey their puzzlement of the mysteries of life.  Like an echo coming down a foggy tunnel you can hear the heartache of lost love in every breathy note that reverberates off his husky voice.   Listen to his music and hear something lost in the over-produced poppycock of present-day musical pandering.  Pay attention and you’ll hear it, its quiet, its whispering, its real.

Michael killed it at Molly Malones this past Saturday night!! His setlist was just to die for..According to the LiterateGal’s tweets Michael sang “Statues”, Roy Orbison’s “Crying”, “Redemption”, Adele’s “Someone Like You” and “Taillights” (the one that is named as “Redemption” on The Rising Myspace).

We were so lucky with tweets, twitvids, pictures and videos from fans that attended and I know I can speak for all of us who weren’t there….a HUGE thank-you to everyone who shared!
MJ’s song choice was spot on and I think that “Crying” and “Someone Like You” showed off his voice to perfection!!

Hoping we get a video of this..MJ always kills the anthem and hopefully he will get to watch and/or play some tennis :) UPDATE: MJ didn’t get to sing due to ESPN time constraints. He kills the anthem so he’ll be doing it again soon I am sure!

WOW!! Looks like an awesome and action packed time at the Moon Palace Resort’s 2011 “Summer With The Stars” event!! MJ appears in the video a couple of times..once swinging his golf club and the other upon stage…check out those fangirls up at the stage when MJ is singing!! What a star he is!!!! :)
You will see lots of familiar faces and based on tweets during and since the event..everyone seems to have had a blast!!
