New York Post Article – Michael Johns and Nancy O’Dell Team Up for “Another Christmas”

In the months since he was eliminated from “American Idol,” Michael Johns has gone about establishing himself as a musician free from Simon Cowell’s constraints. Now, he’s teamed up with “Access Hollywood” co-anchor Nancy O’Dell to promote a festive, and charitable, Christmas song.
“I wrote ‘Another Christmas’ in 2006,” Michael said. “I had not been a home for an Australian Christmas for eight years. I was supposed to go home but my new visa didn’t come through in time. I was so homesick and upset, I woke up around 3 am, went into the living room and this song just came out. I showed my wife in the morning and she was brought to tears.”
Since then he’s become quite close with Nancy, whose mother recently passed away after a long battle with muscular dystrophy, and she convinced Michael to rerecord the song. He then surprised Nancy by dedicating most of the funds raised to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (a foundation of which she is national vice president) in honor of her late mother Betty.
“Losing a family member to such a horrible disease is just so hard. It is a disease that is not often talked about and does not get anywhere near the funding it should,” Michael said. “I hope you enjoy the song and spread the word it. We want to help as many people as we can with this.”
“Another Christmas” will be available on iTunes starting Dec. 9
