Our very own Janine (perfectionistjc) and her friends had the pleasure of meeting Michael Johns after the Las Vegas American Idol concert on July 5th, 2008. This post contains her recap, pics, and a very special video of her and her friends meeting Michael after the show. This video has it all….dancing, singing, and lots of other surprises. Thank you, Janine, for sharing your experience with us!
So July 5th…. Hmmm.. We decided not to go stalk the buses anymore. It was like 106 degrees, but we arrived at the venue early around 4:30. We had to wait until 6 for the venue to open their doors so we decided to tour the venue and take pics. Hahahaha. These people working at the venue asked us for pics since we looked so tight, and they said they were going to show it on the big screens during the concert! Hahahha. I wanted to take a pic, but then they said we need a guardian signature. Boo! Then we were still looking for signs of the Idols, but nothing. We even stood by the bushes, and I screamed Michael’s name. Lol. Then we found a shade by the buses, and fortunately they had a few benches so we just sat there! Then like 15 -20 minutes later, we heard screaming so we immediately ran to the fences. I’ve never ran that fast before. Hahaha. There were like 6 Archies waiting there. They said we just missed Archie. Awww. I wanted to see him too. Then I asked them if they saw Michael, and they said earlier. Boo! All of them are inside already. We waited by the fences hoping that Michael forgot something so he will go back to the buses. Lol. And then this dude who was working there said they won’t come out anymore since they’re in rehearsal. I asked him if he saw Michael Johns, and asked if he was hot and nice. He started laughing! Lol.. He said Michael is really nice. He said there are only about 6000 people coming so we can easily meet them after the show. I told him to go give my gift, but they said we can’t give them gifts right now. So we were still waiting by the fences, and I wanted to play pranks on those girls we saw so I started screaming. Hahahhaa. They didn’t come. Hahahaha. They were standing on the other side where there was shade, and they kept coming back to see if any Idols come out.
Then it was six. We got inside, and found our seats. We were waiting for the show to start. …… Then it started. I started screaming Michael’s name, and there were these Dreadheads behind us saying “Who’s Michael?” I wanted to say something, but I just ignored them. I’ll make it up to them later. You’ll see. So anyways, I didn’t care for them. Then when it was Michael’s turn, we were going crazy!! Hahahhaa. We were on the left side of the stage so we can see what’s happening backstage. We saw Michael drinking water!! That was hot! Hahhaha.
*So when Michael came on, we were twirling and waving our flame bandanas, and we were doing “We are the Champions” pose!!! I hope that annoyed those dreadheads. Hahaha.
*During Dream On, we ran down to see him closer so we can touch his hands when he goes to our side of the stage, but the security guards flashed their flashlights on us! How rude!!! We ran back up!! Good times! Lol.
* During the “Don’t Stop the Music” performance, in the end, Michael looked at our side of the stage, and we think that he saw my friend’s flame bandana.Then when the show ended, we immediately went down by the buses where people could meet and greet the Idols. They said they might come around 11:30. That was their way of saying go home, but I’m staying. I don’t care! So Kristy came first. I didn’t even noticed her until she got closer. No screams there. Then like around 15 minutes later, Michael came, and then my friend was waving her flame bandana while I was raising my hand with my wristband. He said “yeahhh firee,” but then he started meeting the people in front of the line. I was so giddy as he got closer. I was giggling, and my friend was burning up. Hahahah . I felt her hand. She later told me when we got home that Michael was the first guy ever to make her do that. Hahhaha…. I kept telling my friend to take pics and videos.. lol. Then these girls next to me asked him to sing a song, but he didn’t. Then I gave him my program, the picture of him that has my name on it, and the picture of him that I bought. I just gave those three to him because I had so many things on my hand. I expected for him to sign just the picture on top, but he signed all three. He saw my name, and he said “ Janine.” Hahahhahaha.. no video ugghh! Then he talked to me about seeing a pic or something that someone has a flame bandana, and he said “That was you,” so I just said, “yes.” I don’t know if it was me or my friend he saw since we were matching, but I just took credit for it. Hahhhaaha. So yeah.
After meeting him, I kind of followed him for pictures. Hope he doesn’t think I’m a stalker. Do you guys notice after meeting us he was moving down the line rather quickly? LOL
*I met everyone and got all their signatures. I was asking for a chest bump from Cookie, and he said “with Carly,” lol since Michael was like on the opposite side and Carly was next to Cookie. I found out later after I saw the pics that they did the chest bump! Boo! I missed it! I also said to Carly, “MARLY, you guys should do more duets,” and she said, “how do you guys come up with this?” Then she told Cookie about Marly, and they were laughing. Hahahhaa. Cookie also said he will come back after he’s signing to take pics. He didn’t! Boo! And then I saw Ramiele, and I said “ATE!!!” LOL! Then Jason came, and I asked “What happened to our dates? We miss your bulletins and video blogs.” He replied with “Actually I’m going to do one tomorrow.” He didn’t hahaha. Then Archie came with his bodyguard. He just signed. No convos with anyone so I just said, “I LOVE YOU!” ahhahahaha
A lot of people left already, but I was just talking to my friends at the same spot where we met Michael. I thought all the Idols were in the buses already, but suddenly Michael came back to me, and he shooked my hands, and he kept thanking me for the gift and the love and support.” I don’ t remember what I said. Hahahah. I was so excited. I was hopping and jumping when he left. Then we went to the parking lot. These girls asked me what else Michael gave me. They said they saw everything. LOL!! They’re jealous. Ahhaha.
So we were in the parking lot. We were like the last ones in the venue. We took a video of us acting like fools for Michael as the buses we’re leaving. He must have seen us! He’s in one of those buses!!!! Lol….

JANINE, WHAT A GREAT JOB YOU DID!!! I’m so happy you showed him some love. I think MORE PEOPLE have to do this! He loved the gift, too. I just can’t get over the great outfits you guys were wearing. I thought it was outstanding that he got on the phone and said that’s right Mom, etc. He is SO SPECIAL.

What an incredible man to take the time to show some love for his fans! I guess that’s part of why he is loved by so many! Mr. Talent, and Looks, and Charm, and Grace, and Congeniality. That list could go on forever…it would be simpler just to say Mr. Everything. Thanks for posting your good fortune Janine!

Oh Janine…this was the treat of treats for us!!! It was beyond awesome. What a fabulous guy and I loved how he gave you such attention and the hug…girl..you are a star!!

Wow, no wonder you couldn’t sleep afterwards! I hope other MJ fans who meet him at the concerts show as much enthusiasm as you. It’s obvious how much Michael appreciates it. It’s probably why he spends so much time with each of his fans.

I enjoyed reading/watching your story and I am so happy you got to meet Michael. LOL’ed when he got on the phone. How cool that he sang a bit too. Marly! LOL Ah, I hope I get as lucky when my tour stop comes up on the 19th!!

WoW!!! What a lucky girl you are. You did such a great job!!!! Thats how all of us feel about him and you got chance to express that to him.. Can we even love him anymore than we already do. Its so good Janine that your expectations for meeting Michael went waaaay beyond great. Ho was a real trouper . He obviously was hooked into your enthusiasm like I was when you came back after the concert. This encounter will keep you going for a long while!!

Well, I was privileged to be the first one to have seen this footage, and I have to admit that I was on an emotional roller coaster when I watched the clip of this incredible ‘encounter’ prior to editing etc. Janine that was one of the best fan meetings I’ve ever seen, and your recap was awesome. So real and yet the humour was just wonderful as well. I laughed and I shed a few tears. Michael is very special and so are you. Thanks to both of you for sharing this wonderful moment in time with all the rest of us fans.

I just got back from the San Jose show myself. I was in the 1st row on the floor when I thought I had row 3. So, he was like 5 feet away from me! Anyway, I screamed my head off when he performed. The whole thing went by so quickly. I have to check my pics and see if they’re worth sharing.
