Michael recently did an interview with a college newspaper in Palm Springs called The Chaparral. Oh and the interviewer just so happens to be one of our forum members. Thanks for posting the link, Anna!
Here’s an excerpt from the interview.
TC: Well, you know, even though you finished out of the top five, I know so many people who love you and can’t wait for your music to come out. Speaking of which, what’s going on with that?
MJ: Oh, thank you. Thank you. And yeah, we’re working on that right now. I’ve been in the studio recording. It’s all going to be good. We’ll have something out, definitely a single by the end of the year. We’re talking October or November, or an album. If not, early next year. I’m not looking to push anything just right now just because, “oh, the window’s closing!” I don’t believe in that. They’re good songs, and people remember you, they know who you are. I think that’s the cool thing, and I have a bunch of things I’m doing in the meantime, like different concerts and things that are going to keep me in the press. So I’m not too scared about that. I mean, I’m 29 years old and I can’t afford another bad thing to happen to me, so this is it for me. So I want to make sure that the record is on my terms and is what the fans are going to like.
TC: Will you be doing the song writing on it?
MJ: I’m doing both. Some songs you write and some songs you collaborate on. I’m not an idiot though, if Diane Warren comes to me with a hit and says, “I really want you to sing this,” and I feel the lyrics, I’ll be like, yep, definitely.
TC: Do you think you’ll collaborate with Dolly Parton? I heard that was in the pipeline.
MJ: Well, yeah, we’ve been talking about it, but she’s pretty busy for the next two years or so. She’s on a world tour and then she’s got a Broadway thing as well. Hopefully I’ll have a hit record and then I’ll be in this game for a while and then I’ll collaborate with her some way down the line.
TC: I’m not worried, because everyone I know is going to buy your album.MJ: That’s huge, so thank you very much.

That was a really good interview! Thanks, Anna! I get so excited at every mention of a single being out by the end of the year that it’s a bit ridiculous! I just know his album will rock my world. Yesss. Not to mention the different concerts and things he said he will be doing in the meantime. I can’t wait to see what those things are!

Great Job! Michael has a record deal in the bag. He just can’t say. The end of
the year does sound good. But, whenever Michael feels his material and the
timing of his cd is right, is ok with me. I’ll wait..and fantastic that we are going
to have concert and press between the two. This just makes me more
excited and happy for him and his fans.

Michael is so awesome, and what he says is so true. I’ve been watching Idol for a long time- since the second season. I like American Idol, the show, but I never really liked the music they were singing. I thought that most of them were pretty cheesy. I’d still watch for the fun of it. I never voted. I liked Blake last year, he was so different from anyone that had been on AI before, and I bought his album. The first AI alum I had ever bought.
But then there was Michael. He made me join the AI forums, vote in stupid polls, call as many times as I could etc. and it wasn’t enough. I had to find and join this cool fansite (I have never done that before, either.) I cried and was depressed for three weeks after he left the show. I got tickets to an AI concert that that I have to drive six hours to see.
He was just so much better than AI, and that was because he was being himself. And I know this has been said a million times but he has just got it. He’s got the whole package- looks, personality, voice, sex appeal, charisma, plus he’s smart. He just is who he is. This interview just shows it so nicely and reminds me why I love this guy!!!!!

This was a great interview. Thank you!!! I had no idea who Diane Warren was. DUH!!! I googled her & she is HOT STUFF!!! The songs & singers on her site look like winners to me. So if our Michael is hooking up with her, I feel very relieved. He will be taken care of well. Thanks, again. It’s true….Michael, you SING IT & WE WILL BUY IT!!!

Anna your interview was so great because you totally believe in Michael & it showed! Michael , you better believe there are many people hanging out for you single & album We are itching to hear your new material & see what these collaborations are like. Take care of yourself during this tour - so that you can survive until the end of it !! Seeing all the footage from the tour just makes us Aussies crave for you to come here even more !! “Crikey mate” - its hard waiting though!!

I totally agree with your comment! I watched AI before, but I never got into it until Michael! This is the first fansite I have ever joined, and it will probably be the last! What can I say, I’m simply hooked on Michael! We love you MJ!
